How to create a Monero Wallet?
We’ve decided to write this article so you can easily create a Monero wallet. First of all there are more ways you can create a Monero wallet. There are mobile wallets, web wallets or desktop wallets.
The first two types are not very safe, but it is more simple to create them. The desktop wallet requires to run a full Monero node.
1. Web Wallet - Easy Way
As you find on the official page of Monero, they recommend using MyMonero.com. It is easy to use and it works on your browser. You don’t need to install anything. Just make sure to save your private login key when you create a new account. Therefore, it is best that you backup your private login key by writing it down. Please note that it is extremely difficult for MyMonero to securely deliver its code to your browser, this means that there is considerable risk in using MyMonero for large amounts.
2. Mobile Wallet - Easy Way
This type of wallet has almost the same principles as the web wallet. One of the differences is that you have an application on your phone. For safety reasons, we recommend to use none of these wallets for now.
3. Desktop Wallet - Full Monero Client
This type of wallet is the safest method for large amounts and requires to run a full node. By doing so, it helps keep the network stable and robust and also gives you the maximum privacy Monero has to offer.
To run a full node, you’ll find more information in here: https://getmonero.org/getting-started/running but we will simplify the steps in here.
a.) Download the application from https://getmonero.org/downloads/ based on your OS.
b.) Run ‘monerod’ - this will download the full blockchain. It might take up to 24h so you have to be patient.
c.) Run ‘monero-wallet-cli’ - this will let you to create a new Monero wallet. All the files that are generated after you create the wallet and set the password, make sure to save them on a USB stick.
d.) After you created your wallet, type ‘help’ - you’ll see all the commands needed for transactions and all the other benefits Monero has.
e.) Receive XMR and Spend XMR :)
If you already have a Monero wallet just introduce the wallet in the dashboard and happy mining :)
